Wound cleaning & wound treatment with LIGASANO® for pressure ulcers

This case study details the treatment of a 53-year-old paraplegic male with a category 4 decubital ulcer complicated by biofilm, diabetes, and poor general health. Initial therapy included LIGASANO® wound cleaning sponges, mini wound strips, and foam dressings, focusing on biofilm removal, wound filling, and pressure reduction. Despite slow healing due to comorbidities and recurrent infections, significant improvements were observed over eight months, including reduced wound size, epithelialization, and healthier wound edges. Collaborative efforts among caregivers and medical staff facilitated healing. By December 2017, the wound was completely closed, demonstrating effective wound management despite challenging conditions.
