With its Spinal Table System, Mizuho OSI offers experience, reliability, quality, flexibility and safety in spinal surgery patient positioning, moving the field in the right direction for more than 20 years.

The Mizuho OSI Spinal Table System (STS) offers users the reliability and excellence trusted worldwide for more than 20 years. Originally launched in 1993, the table’s modular design allows customised positioning of patients to accommodate any spine procedure, including 180° intraoperative rotations.

With the spinal surgery top frame and radiolucent imaging top constructed entirely of carbon fibre, the STS platform offers the radiolucency needed for unobstructed imaging at the surgical site. The spinal surgery top’s open-frame design allows the abdomen to hang free during prone spine procedures, reducing vena caval compression and minimising epidural venous bleeding.

This decreased bleeding results in improved visualisation of the surgical site. Each spinal surgery top comes standard with a chest pad, three sizes of hip pads, and thigh pads designed to properly support each patient’s unique anatomy.

Optimised positioning

The STS also features several unique components that assist in proper patient positioning. One of these key components is the ProneView protective helmet and mirror system, which offers head and eye protection for the prone patient while providing anaesthetists easy access to monitor the patient. More than two million procedures have been performed without patient eye injury using the ProneView helmet and mirror system.

Moving down the structure of the table, the remaining patient support surfaces all feature Tempur-Pedic medical pad technology from the chest pad to the leg board pads and positioning pillows. This exclusive pad design equalises the pressure load on the patient during surgery, contouring to the patient’s anatomy and providing proper support.

Use of the radiolucent imaging top allows supine positioning of patients for anterior spinal cases, including cervical procedures, as well as for lateral positioning.

When used with the spinal surgery top, the radiolucent imaging top allows the 180° rotation of a patient intraoperatively, enabling the completion of an anterior/posterior procedure. The table’s rotation capability also facilitates safe patient handling for transfer to the prone position for posterior procedures.

With a variety of accessories geared towards customised patient positioning, the STS is a platform that offers the versatility needed to support a variety of spinal and imaging procedures, resulting in maximum use of this specialised surgery table.

Smart spinal surgery

The proAXIS Spinal Surgery Table is the first of its kind, featuring advanced software-controlled hinge technology, while providing all the positioning benefits of the original STS. Through a system of synchronised movement made possible by the Torso Trolley, the hinged table system supports instantaneous axis of rotation with coordinated patient translation.

The table’s radiolucent hinge allows flexion of up to 35° and extension up to 20°. An additional feature of the table is the ability to set the hinge to fixed surgical site mode, a setting which maintains the original surgical position during hinge articulations. The table’s hinge capability facilitates controlled closure for lumbar osteotomies as well as spinal canal decompressions. Driven by an intelligent hand pendant called the IntelliPENDANT, proAXIS provides real-time information, allowing precise monitoring of the table’s position and clear selection of the table’s functions.

The latest in the line of spinal surgery tables, proAXIS is designed to support the biomechanical aspects of today’s spinal procedures while expanding on the key features of the original STS.
