Fresenius Kabi is a global healthcare company that specialises in life-saving medicines and technologies for infusion, transfusion and clinical nutrition. Its products and services are used to help care for critically and chronically ill patients. It has a comprehensive product portfolio that comprises a range of IV generic drugs, infusion therapies, clinical nutrition products and medical devices for administering these products.

Fresenius Kabi announced that it signed a global, multiyear agreement to validate the interoperability of its infusion systems with healthcare software company Epic’s electronic medical record (EMR) platform.

The agreement aims to improve bidirectional communication between medical devices and the EMR.

"Our agreement with Epic is another step in positioning Fresenius Kabi pumps with customers around the world as they look to meet their EMR goals and achieve device connectivity standardisation," says Dr Christian Hauer, president of medical devices at Fresenius Kabi. "Fresenius Kabi will continue to develop and certify its current and future infusion devices with other leading EMR providers."

Establishing plug-and-play connectivity is its main goal. Healthcare organisations demand this important strategy as a means to leverage their investments, and improve patients’ safety and workflow for clinicians.

A global leader in infusion technology, Fresenius Kabi’s Agilia products offer a complete range of infusion pumps, accessories and disposables. Since 2007, more than 500,000 Agilia units have been sold in more than 95 countries.

Fresenius Kabi lives by its corporate philosophy of "caring for life". The company is committed to putting essential medicines and technologies in the hands of people who help patients, and to finding the best answers to the challenges they face.
