Digital health company Validic has announced the integration of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data directly into electronic health record (EHR) clinical workflows.

The multi-device solution supports Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre portfolio within Epic and Oracle Health EHR platforms.

Healthcare providers can now access real-time CGM data, improving patient care, clinical workflows and diabetes management.

The new integration by Validic simplifies diabetes management by eliminating the need for clinicians to log into multiple portals or manually sync CGM data.

Clinicians can now view CGM data and Ambulatory Glucose Profile (AGP) reports directly within the EHR patient chart, saving time and reducing administrative burden.

With a single click, providers can save CGM data and reports to the chart, allowing them to focus more on patient care and less on data management.

Validic CEO Drew Schiller said: “This integration is a pivotal moment in diabetes care.

“By bringing CGM data seamlessly into the clinical workflow, we’re saving time for healthcare providers and we’re enabling more informed, data-driven conversations with patients that can lead to better outcomes.”

Validic’s CGM integration offers several key features. It provides real-time data updates from device manufacturer clouds and allows clinical administrators to create customised programmes with notifications for adherence, data thresholds, or averages.

The integration also ensures automatic data capture and documentation directly in patient charts.

All care team members with access to a patient’s chart can view the data, not just those with portal permissions.

Additionally, the integration supports Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre portfolio and other CGM devices.

Franciscan Ministries of our Lady Health System Physician Enterprise Quality & EPMO vice president Christy Limbers said: “Having CGM data readily available in our EHR workflow will be a game-changer for patient care.

“It allows us to make more timely and informed decisions, identify trends quickly, and ultimately provide better support to our patients managing diabetes. This kind of seamless data integration is crucial for the future of endocrinology and chronic disease management.”

In February this year, Validic integrated its Smart Meter cellular-enabled health devices into a personalised care platform.

This will offer patients and clinicians in remote monitoring programmes access to advanced, cellular-enabled health monitoring technology.
