US-based healthcare information technology firm Oracle Health has launched its AI-powered assistant in Canada to address physician burnout and boost patient care in health systems.

The AI-powered assistant, dubbed Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent, is already used in the US.

It reduces around 30% of daily documentation time, and supports over 40 medical specialities, including cardiology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and pulmonology.

The Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent integrates generative AI, agentic technology, automation, and multimodal voice and screen-driven assistance into a unified solution.

It is easily integrated with the Oracle Health Foundation electronic health record.

The assistant delivers accurate draft notes in minutes and suggests next steps for providers to review and approve at the point of care.

Oracle Health and Life Sciences executive vice president and general manager Seema Verma said: “Oracle continues to deliver AI-driven intelligence to our entire clinical portfolio.

“By embedding AI agents directly within the clinician’s workflow, we’re reducing the mundane busywork that took the joy out of practicing medicine and impeded their ability to truly connect with and serve patients.

“We received unanimously positive feedback from the thousands of clinicians who have used the solution and are proud to be extending these capabilities to our customers across Canada.”

The AI-powered voice recognition technology records key elements of physician-patient encounters, interprets the information, and inputs a draft note into the Oracle Health EHR.

This enables physicians to swiftly review and approve the clinical documentation, enhancing efficiency by eliminating the need to navigate drop-down menus or screens for information.

Providers can access critical patient history elements before, during, and after appointments by simply interacting with the Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent.

Oracle Health vice president and Canada market leader Erin O’Halloran said: “Time is our most precious, non-renewable resource. Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent helps to restore the clinician-patient relationship, emphasises focused time with patients, and reduces clinician burnout.

“The availability of this solution marks another step toward modernising the country’s health information systems and providing a more digitally connected healthcare ecosystem.”

Earlier this year, Huntsville Hospital Health System (HH Health) expanded its collaboration with Oracle Health to improve patient care and enhance operational efficiency.
