Newbase, a South Korea-based provider of medical education and training through AR/VR technology, has announced the launch of its new product, dubbed Medicrew.

Medicrew is a VR-based medical simulation training platform that integrates AI-powered virtual patients to advance digital technology in medical education.

The simulation training platform provides customised VR education personalised to the clinical competency of healthcare professionals.

It features a three-step learning module, customised according to the skill level of healthcare professionals and supports learning through both VR and mobile.

Newbase plans to expand the platform into the global market starting in 2025, using its expertise gained through projects in international markets since 2023.

Newbase CEO Seon-Young Park said: “Our mission is to revolutionise medical education by overcoming barriers to clinical training such as limited access to clinical training and enabling equitable access to high-quality training through our VR-based medical training simulation.

“We look forward to showcasing Medicrew’s groundbreaking technologies at IMSH2025 in Orlando, US, starting 10 January 2025, to strengthen our global presence.”

According to Newbase, its Medicrew platform is widely adopted by major nursing schools and top-tier hospitals in South Korea, including Seoul Asan Medical Centre.

The platform has enhanced the quality of training for new nurses, reduced turnover rates, and achieved high levels of satisfaction at participating hospitals.

Last year, Medicrew was installed at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, as part of a KOICA project, to offer advanced training solutions to healthcare professionals.

With the launch of the new platform, it aims to further expand its influence in domestic and international medical education markets, said the medical education provider.
