Lirio has again partnered with Cone Health, a network of North Carolina-based healthcare providers, to launch artificial intelligence (AI)-based interventions for chronic conditions.

Lirio is known for integrating behavioural science and AI to enhance health outcomes.

Under the collaboration, both partners will develop interventions focusing on diabetes.

The initiative expands upon the strategic partnership established in March 2023 to improve the patient experience, address gaps in care, and promote health equity.

In addition, the latest deal represents Lirio’s first enterprise agreement.

Under the expanded partnership, Cone Health will implement Lirio’s Precision Nudging solution to target behavioural changes among its hypertensive and diabetic patient populations.

Cone Health, which was announced to be acquired by nonprofit, charitable organisation Risant Health last month, is aiming to improve chronic disease management, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction.

The initiative plans to implement five distinct Lirio interventions by the year’s end.

Lirio CEO Marten den Haring said: “We’re confident that our unique approach to behaviour change will help Cone Health offer just-in-time personalised support for patients with hypertension, diabetes, and other chronic conditions, and we are thrilled to partner with an organisation that shares our commitment to health equity.”

Lirio’s personalisation engine utilises hyper-personalised and evidence-based behavioural interventions to guide individuals through their health paths.

These interventions are delivered through appropriate channels at optimal times, encouraging patients to take actions that improve their health.

It provides messages and reminders to schedule primary care appointments, monitor blood pressure or blood sugar at home, adhere to prescribed medications, and others.

The solution predicts each person’s barriers to action using Lirio’s AI-based Large Behavioral Model to provide tailored solutions to overcome them.

The engine continuously learns and refines its approach using more consumer data and responses. Initially, it will target whole populations, then specific segments, and ultimately individuals.

Cone Health chief nursing officer Vi-Anne Antrum said: “We’re incredibly excited to get started with Lirio because we’ve struggled to reach people who have serious health challenges and find sustainable ways to get them to self-manage their conditions.

“This system represents an innovative new way to get them to move past their often significant barriers and take action toward improving their health and well-being.”
