Healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) company Huma and Wheel Health, a virtual care platform, have launched a joint venture (JV) to transform healthcare and deliver a direct-to-consumer platform as a service.

The joint venture will help organisations to deliver digital-first, end-to-end care solutions directly to consumers.

By combining their strengths, Huma and Wheel Health create an integrated platform that will provide personalised, convenient virtual care at scale.

Huma’s platform supports remote patient monitoring, digital clinical trials, and patient engagement programmes. It also supports national programmes and large-scale health initiatives in the US, the UK, Germany, Greece, and the Middle East.

Wheel Health enables companies to expand their care offerings, improve patient engagement and loyalty, and provide virtual care at scale.

By combining Huma’s platform with Wheel Health’s virtual care capabilities, the partnership will enhance accessibility, personalisation, and insights across diverse patient programmes and therapeutic areas.

Huma CEO and founder Dan Vahdat said: “Today’s system, where patients navigate scheduling, wait weeks to be seen, and deal with inconsistent or rushed care, frustrates stakeholders across the board.

“By partnering with Wheel, we aim to redefine this experience, combining consumer-centric virtual care with cutting-edge technology to deliver better outcomes, greater convenience, and even moments of delight while giving people back valuable time in their lives.”

The partnership will create a unified platform that supports clinicians with advanced tools, smarter decision-making, and reduced administrative tasks.

Huma’s Cloud Platform (HCP) and Wheel Health’s Horizon Platform will form an AI-powered, digital-first ecosystem to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and expand care access.

The Horizon Platform was launched in June last year to advance care delivery and personalised connectivity between patients and clinicians for enhanced engagement and outcomes.

The JV platform will offer a wide range of integrated services to enable partners to launch tailored healthcare solutions and ensure a seamless consumer experience.

These services include AI-driven engagement and navigation, digital front door and modern telehealth, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) Class II and European Union (EU)/ Medical Device Regulation (MDR) Class IIb SaMD.

The platform will also offer facilities like diagnostics and remote monitoring, fulfilment and prescription services, configurable consumer care programmes and real-world evidence (RWE) and analytics.

Wheel Health CEO and founder Michelle Davey said: “Partnering with Huma to create a dedicated direct-to-consumer solution will significantly expand the support we provide to our customers and their patients.”

The joint venture will launch in Q1 2025 with major pharmaceutical companies and health systems.
