Greenlight Health Data Solutions and Pattern Health have unveiled their plans to merge and form a unified company to improve health care and promote faster research.

US-based Greenlight Health Data Solutions offers access to patient-consented medical records across electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Pattern Health provides patient engagement, clinical trial, and clinical outcome assessment (COA) solutions.

The merged company, Greenlight Health Data Solutions, will aim to enhance healthcare, life sciences, clinical research organisations (CROs), and insurance industries.

By offering streamlined access to real-world and EHR data from one partner, the combined entity will support clinical trials, patient engagement, and insurance solutions. This integration aims to improve outcomes for both patients and organisations.

Ed Barber, co-founder and CEO of Pattern Health, will serve as the CEO of the newly merged company.

Barber said: “We both have tremendous capabilities today but are excited about the opportunities to better leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to further improve the lives of patients, through improved care or in helping researchers to develop new treatments more rapidly.”

The merger is backed by a $6m investment to accelerate sales and marketing, helping Greenlight Health Data Solutions expand its reach and deliver more value to customers and patients.

Founded in 2000, Greenlight Health Data Solutions connects to over 90% of the US provider market, enabling electronic health data sharing.

The company streamlines patient recruitment and enrolment for clinical trials while supporting research with patient-consented, real-world data.

Pattern Health, founded in 2016, has served over 350 customers with its patient engagement platform and COA solutions.

These tools support clinical trials, patient engagement, and digital interventions for top academic researchers, life sciences companies, and CROs.

Greenlight Health Data Solutions founder and CEO Steve Malik will be the majority owner and chairman of the expanded company.

Malik said: “Our vision has always been to create patient-centric medical records data solutions that promote increased patient control leading to improving health outcomes.

“Greenlight’s strength in health data technology, coupled with Pattern Health’s unique patient engagement platform, will accelerate pre-screenings for clinical trials and research projects and keep a high level of meaningful patient engagement throughout the cycle to advance innovation across life sciences and research.”

In August this year, Pattern Health announced a partnership with oncology research institutions, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Duke University, to enhance cancer research.
