Emory Healthcare and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have extended their partnership through 2028, ensuring continued access to quality care for over 140,000 members.

As Georgia’s largest academic health system, Emory Healthcare remains committed to advancing medical innovation, educating future caregivers, and delivering high-quality healthcare to patients and their families.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia President Robert Bunch said: “We are very pleased to continue this collaboration with Emory Healthcare that will extend our network throughout Atlanta and across the state.

“We both share a vision of health and wellness that will allow us to continue to collaborate to develop whole health solutions for the thousands of Georgians we mutually support.”

The long-term partnership will benefit Anthem members across numerous Georgia counties and cities, including Atlanta, Athens, Columbus, Dublin, Peachtree City, Marietta, and Flowery Branch.

The agreement covers Anthem members enrolled in all business lines, such as employer-based plans, Health Insurance Exchange, Blue High Performance Network, and Medicare Advantage plans.

Emory Healthcare CEO Joon Lee said: “Extending our collaboration with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will allow patients to maintain access to high-quality health care, while keeping the costs of care top of mind. We look forward to continuing this relationship as we support our community locally and statewide.”

Emory Healthcare operates over 490 provider locations, including 10 hospitals, the Emory Physician Group, and the Emory Healthcare Network, which integrates more than 3,940 physicians, including over 475 in primary care.

As part of the agreement, both organisations will enhance their collaboration on innovative initiatives such as clinical data connectivity and value-based care models aimed at improving health outcomes and managing costs for Anthem-covered Emory patients.

Emory and Anthem have a long-standing partnership in value-based care, with Emory being Anthem’s first Accountable Care Organization in this model.

The programme aligns provider incentives with high-quality care, offering detailed monthly reporting and a data exchange process that includes claims updates and member information.
