Cigna Healthcare, the health benefits division of The Cigna Group, has partnered with Infirmary Health, a caregiver in the Gulf Coast region, for Medicare Advantage (MA) access.
Under the partnership, Cigna Healthcare MA customers can now have in-network access to Infirmary Health’s hospitals, facilities, and doctors in-network.
The agreement emphasises value-based care to enhance customer health, reduce costs, and improve quality ratings.
Infirmary Health is said to be Alabama’s largest nonprofit healthcare provider, based in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
Serving 11 counties in southern Alabama, plus the Florida panhandle and southern Mississippi, Infirmary Health employs over 700 doctors and 6,500 team members.
Infirmary Health president and CEO Mark Nix said: “Infirmary Health’s new agreement with Cigna Healthcare will benefit our patients, physicians, and other providers across the region.
“By embracing Cigna’s Medicare Advantage programs, we will continue to deliver the high-quality care that seniors expect, while ensuring they remain in network.”
Infirmary Health is also in-network for Cigna Healthcare’s employer plans.
Cigna Healthcare provides customers with the information and insights needed to navigate the healthcare system and make informed choices for their well-being.
Its products and services are offered through subsidiaries of The Cigna Group, including Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company, Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, Evernorth Health companies, and Express Scripts companies.
The company offers an integrated suite of health services, including medical, dental, behavioural health, pharmacy, vision, and supplemental benefits.
Cigna Healthcare Medicare Alabama and Georgia market president Daniel Strobel said: “Infirmary Health has a long-standing history of providing quality care – and this agreement will allow for greater access to care for thousands of our customers across the region.
“We look forward to collaborating with Infirmary Health to bring best-in-class service in our local communities.”
In September this year, Cigna Healthcare launched an ‘E-Treatment’ option through MDLIVE by Evernorth.
Starting this month, customers can access urgent care from board-certified doctors quickly and flexibly, without needing to interact directly via phone or video.
