Dutch health technology company Royal Philips announced that Carilion Clinic will adopt Philips cardiovascular care solutions at its new Cardiovascular Institute at Crystal Spring Tower.
The Virginia-based non-profit integrated healthcare organisation will install 11 specialised Philips interventional suites at its new facility.
The move will allow physicians to treat patients with complex cardiovascular conditions closer to home while optimising the clinical, operational, and overall performance of the health system.
Philips said the new labs serve as the base for its integrated solutions for cardiovascular care.
The solutions include the Philips Azurion Image-Guided Therapy System, EPIQ CVx cardiology ultrasound system, and IntraSight with SyncVision for IVUS imaging and physiology.
The integration provides a high level of clinical confidence, with superior imaging, reduced X-ray dose, improved workflow, and more effective turnaround times, said the Dutch company.
Philips North America chief region leader Jeff DiLullo said: “For many years, Carilion has been recognised for delivering exceptional cardiac care.
“Maintaining the highest standard of care means continuous growth and innovation, making healthcare delivery more efficient and effective.
“The Crystal Spring Tower expansion illustrates Carilion’s commitment to its staff and patients, giving clinicians access to world-class technology while providing a level of care not available anywhere else in the region.”
Carilion offers high-quality patient care through its hospital network and primary and speciality physician practices, and its Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital has 718 beds.
The non-profit organisation will relocate its Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute to the new facility and provide advanced heart, lung, and vascular services in the region.
The services include inpatient nursing care, cardiovascular ORs, cardiac catheterisation and electrophysiology labs.
Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is the major referral centre and the only Level 1 Trauma Center for patients requiring specialised medical care in the region.
With new Philips solutions, the medical staff at Carilion locations can continue handling complex cases or procedures that may not be available at surrounding healthcare facilities.
Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute vice president Marguerite Underwood said: “At Carilion Clinic, we are committed to improving the health of the communities we serve. We know that collaboration is an essential component to realising this vision.
“Working with Philips ensures that we will be able to set the standard in cardiovascular care, not only today but well into the future.”
