Baptist Health Hardin, previously known as Hardin Memorial Hospital (HMH), is set to enhance its healthcare services with a new facility in southern Hardin County, Texas.

The new facility, which includes a diagnostic centre, an urgent care and a primary care practice, aims to meet the growing healthcare demands driven by local development.

Construction commenced in late 2024, and the facility is expected to open in autumn 2025

The new facility will feature a 6,680ft2 diagnostic centre offering MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, and DEXA scan, alongside laboratory services.

It will be Baptist Health’s fourth diagnostic centre in Hardin County and seventh in central Kentucky, with others located in LaRue, Meade, and Nelson counties.

Also, the 4,200ft2 urgent care centre, as the fourth Baptist Health Urgent Care in Hardin County, will offer occupational medicine services and employ additional physicians and staff.

Baptist Health currently operates urgent care clinics in Elizabethtown and Radcliff, with another set to open in Bardstown, and an occupational medicine clinic in Elizabethtown.

In addition, a 12,000ft2 space will accommodate a Baptist Health Medical Group Family Medicine practice, which is currently on Ring Road.

Healthcare providers Jahin Patel, Kasey Kindervater, Shaun Milby, and Chandra Payne will move to the new Cecilia facility, along with four new providers.

Baptist Health Hardin president Robert Ramey said: “This new facility will help address the growing demand for healthcare services in the southern part of our county, where industry and the population are expanding rapidly.

“We are excited to grow alongside our communities, as we strive to increase access to healthcare for our neighbours to the south. This expansion will be especially beneficial to our patients who have traditionally had to travel farther for care.”

“Baptist Health Hardin remains one of Kentucky’s top three busiest emergency departments for outpatient visits, and our urgent care centres are among the top five busiest in the Baptist Health system. This investment ensures we can continue meeting the healthcare needs of our growing community well into the future.”

Baptist Health serves around 400,000 residents across ten central Kentucky counties.

It operates a 300-bed hospital in Elizabethtown, which includes 270 acute care, 15 psychiatric, and 15 skilled nursing beds.

The facility is supplemented by around 50 outpatient facilities, including a Cancer Care Centre and Outpatient Surgical Centre.

With a workforce of 2,700 employees and 140 volunteers, Baptist Health Hardin has more than 445 physicians and advanced practice clinicians across over 40 specialities.

The organisation offers emergency care and urgent care, cancer treatment, cardiac rehab, and therapy services, among others.

Baptist Health Medical Group central Kentucky operations vice president Sheila Smallwood said: “Opening an urgent care centre in this area will enhance access to immediate healthcare services while also alleviating patient volume in the hospital’s emergency department.

“By integrating primary care and diagnostic services, we aim to reduce wait times for appointments and provide comprehensive, convenient care close to home.”
