AZmed has entered a strategic partnership with UP Centre for Paediatric Emergencies and Radiologie Dix30, to enhance paediatric and emergency care using AI.
The collaboration introduces AZtrauma, an AI solution for detecting fractures, dislocations, and joint effusions, enhancing diagnosis in paediatric trauma and emergency radiology.
UP Centre for Paediatric Emergencies is Canada’s first specialised paediatric emergency centre outside a hospital.
It provides urgent care amidst increasing emergency room capacities and wait times.
Radiologie Dix30 is a radiology clinic that has been serving the community for a decade, offering imaging solutions and specialised services throughout the week.
UP CEO Sasha Dubrovsky said: “AZtrauma is a great solution that, in our model of care, enables patients to get their diagnostic imaging and return to the treating pediatric emergency physician, who is reviewing the images accompanied by the AI read!
“Given the vision of transparent and collaborative care, UP’s physicians show the injured children and their parents the images along with the AI reads and looks of “WOW” are lived as families feel that technology is truly working hand-in-hand to serve their children and assure quality care delivery.
“This partnership is strategic, and we can see it within the public network of care. It fits perfectly into the workflow—by the time we reach the workstation, AI results are already available, increasing diagnostic confidence.”
The partnership offers several benefits for patient care, by providing AI-based diagnostic assistance as patient volumes increase and help optimise resource allocation.
Enhanced patient care and rapid diagnosis improve clinical decision-making and outcomes.
With AZtrauma, both UP and Dix30 are better equipped to ensure faster patient turnaround.
The AI solution enhances diagnostic sensitivity and specificity, especially during evenings when radiologists may be unavailable, and supports junior doctors refine their skills.
AZmed CEO and co-founder Julien Vidal said: “UP and Dix30 share a commitment to innovation in patient care. Our AI solution is integrated into their workflows, ensuring physicians and patients have access to faster diagnostic support.”
Pierre Bergeron from Dix30 said: “We have developed a field of expertise that was previously nonexistent in Montreal, handling a high volume of patients and addressing an unmet need.
“Our collaboration with AZmed has been a real success story, bringing an impressive number of patients and requiring us to adapt our operations accordingly.”
