Amazon Pharmacy, the online pharmacy business of Amazon, has launched a new Prime membership benefit called RxPass in the US to deliver eligible prescription medications to the doorsteps of customers.
The new subscription service, which is exclusively for Prime members, comes with a monthly fee of $5 with no additional charges on delivery. It is currently available in most states in the US, stated Amazon.
RxPass is said to provide affordable access to medications that treat over 80 common conditions like high blood pressure, anxiety, and acid reflux.
Amazon said that the subscription price doesn’t increase even if users require multiple prescriptions per month.
Amazon Pharmacy vice president John Love said: “Prime members already get fast, free delivery on prescription medications, and RxPass is one more way to save with Amazon Pharmacy.
“Any customer who pays more than $10 a month for their eligible medications will see their prescription costs drop by 50% or more, plus they save time by skipping a trip to the pharmacy.
“We are excited to offer our customers surprisingly simple, low pricing on the eligible medications they need each month.”
As per the technology firm, prime members can create or update their Amazon Pharmacy profile on Amazon site or the Amazon mobile app in order to sign up for RxPass. Once on the site or the app, clients are assisted through a registration process that confirms their eligibility and medication information.
Additionally, Amazon pharmacists are said to be available round-the-clock to help customers whether it is for their prescription refills or during the enrolment process, or after a prescription has been delivered.
Amazon claimed that Prime members who usually take two or more medications per month can save significant time and money with the RxPass subscription.
