Amae Health has partnered with NewYork-Presbyterian, a leading academic healthcare system in the US, to expand its innovative integrated care model to New York City.

The collaboration aims to enhance outpatient care for individuals with severe mental illness (SMI), such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and severe mood disorders.

The partnership involves initiating treatment planning during a patient’s hospital stay, ensuring they receive high-quality, evidence-based care early in their recovery journey.

The proactive approach helps reduce repeat hospitalisations and improves long-term stability for patients with complex mental health conditions.

Amae’s first programme in New York City is led by an integrated care team comprising psychiatrists, primary care providers, therapists, dietitians, and community health workers.

The company, by addressing both behavioural and physical health needs, helps patients in achieving personal goals, such as employment and building meaningful relationships.

The in-person treatment setting and whole-person care focus provide a new option for the 15.4 million Americans living with SMI.

Research in JAMA Psychiatry indicates that around 23% of SMI patients are readmitted to hospitals within 30 days of discharge.

Amae’s integrated approach results in a <4% 30-day readmission rate, demonstrating its effectiveness in helping patients reclaim their futures.

Amae plans to launch additional programme locations in major cities in the coming months, furthering its mission to transform care for those affected by SMI.

Amae Health CEO Stas Sokolin said: “At Amae Health, we are committed to transforming the treatment of SMI by delivering comprehensive, compassionate, and outcomes-driven whole-person care.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with NewYork-Presbyterian to enhance mental health care. Together, we can increase access to mental, physical, and social health resources for individuals with SMI and help them lead stable, fulfilling lives.”

NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health chief operating officer and behavioural health senior vice president Philip Wilner said: “We are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate behavioral health care to our patients with SMI, and pleased to work with Amae Health to help our patients make a seamless transition into comprehensive outpatient care.”
