US-based health technology firm BobiHealth has secured a patent for its advanced data and model security features in its AI-based monitoring and alerting app for expectant mothers.

The patent provides intellectual property protection for the company’s advanced techniques to detect malicious content in data and locally trained models.

It also safeguards the company’s techniques that help prevent malicious content from influencing central model updates or retraining.

BobiHealth leverages advanced AI, developed by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, healthcare professionals, and data scientists, to offer personalised insights and alerts.

The AI-powered app helps expectant mothers monitor their health, providing detailed data to them and their caregivers, identifying potential concerns, and offering timely alerts.

Recently, the company launched a Spanish-language version of the app, to expand equitable access to women and caregivers who do not speak English.

BobiHealth founder and CEO Dave Esra said: “The cutting-edge AI technology platform we have developed offers safe and intelligent monitoring and alerting solutions designed to empower pregnant individuals with invaluable, evidence-based information.

“Protecting the security and accuracy of personal medical data is a vital part of our mission to improve maternal health, and we are proud to have achieved this IP milestone for our users.

“Access to health care and reliable information is a particular challenge among minority groups and the disadvantaged, and as we release our Spanish version, our eyes are on the horizon for future language offerings to meet the needs of all mothers.”

BobiHealth said that maternal health complications and mortality rates have risen significantly in recent years, particularly affecting minority women.

According to the CDC, US maternal mortality rate increased from 20.1 to 32.9 in 2021, with Black women experiencing mortality rates higher than non-Hispanic white women.

BobiHealth said that its patented app, offered on the Apple store, provides expectant mothers and their caregivers with detailed insights into maternal health.

It allows its users to receive AI-driven assessments of their health status by answering a few questions about their well-being, from emotional state to foetal movements.

The assessments help users identify potential health concerns or provide reassurance.

BobiHealth said its app provides personalised monitoring and educational resources, developed by healthcare professionals while protecting user data with patented technology.

Furthermore, the company is pursuing investments to launch its advanced monitoring app on Android and expand its global commercialisation efforts.
