Digital health company Huma has acquired UK-based eConsult, a digital-first triage and automated consultation platform provider for primary and emergency care, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is expected to further advance the National Health Service (NHS) as a proactive health system.

eConsult CEO Murray Ellender said: “We have strong roots in both primary and secondary care and have delivered over 50m digital consultations in the NHS.

“Joining forces with Huma is an amazing opportunity for both our users and our teams to accelerate the shift to digital first healthcare.”

The latest deal follows Huma’s acquisition of iPlato, a UK-based provider of screening, appointment booking, medicines management and communication tools.

Both transactions are anticipated to support the digital health firm’s goal to accelerate the adoption of digital solutions across the healthcare landscape.

According to the digital health company, its solutions are implemented in over two-thirds of all primary and secondary care providers in the UK.

Huma CEO and founder Dan Vahdat said: “This acquisition brings us one step closer to becoming the end-to-end technology platform for the industry to deliver digital-first care at scale seamlessly.

“We believe that when Digital and AI are scaled, they become affordable for both the poor and the rich.”

Concurrently, the digital health company has launched the Huma Cloud Platform and Huma’s Workspace.

These solutions are designed to enable community and secondary care providers (NHS Trusts), primary care providers (GPs), and Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to access an array of digital health solutions.

Features include automated prescriptions, appointment booking, screening tools, teleconsultation, and remote monitoring.

It also has messaging tools, virtual wards, patient education and disease management apps for rare, chronic, and acute conditions, and electronic data capture (EDC) for clinical research.

With eConsult’s triage and automated consultation features, the workspace aims to streamline care, enhance outcomes, and boost efficiency across clinical settings.

Powered by Huma intelligence (Hi), the platform automates tasks like documentation and smart reports. This boosts clinical productivity and staff efficiency while managing various tasks.

Hurley Group is the first to adopt these workspace solutions.

The digital health firm is inviting GP practices, NHS trusts, and ICBs to register for early access to Huma’s digital and AI-first care solutions.

In July this year, Huma collaborated with Turkey-based Eczacıbaşı Group’s Evital on digital health solutions. In the same month, the British digital health firm completed its Series D funding round with a total financing of over $80m.
