PatientPartner, a health-tech startup, has secured $7m in Seed Round funding to improve patient engagement and adherence through its patient mentorship platform.

LionBird and FCA Venture Partners led the investment round. The funds include $3.5m in new funding and $3.5m in convertible debt from Alethea Capital and other strategic investors.

With this new capital, PatientPartner aims to expand its patient mentorship platform.

The startup will also advance its mission of ensuring that patients are well-informed and supported with each diagnosis, allowing them to navigate their healthcare journey.

The company partners with pharmaceutical manufacturers, medical device firms, and clinical research organisations (CROs) to offer scalable, technology-driven solutions that provide each patient with a personalised experience.

PatientPartner has been using its patient mentoring platform to revolutionise the patient experience and enhance outcomes for pharmaceutical clients.

The pharmaceutical industry uses solutions like PatientPartner to meet the growing demand for personalised patient experiences.

Currently, the platform boasts over 40,000 users and more than 500 mentors, covering a diverse range of disease states and treatment types.

PatientPartner’s platform offers real-time connections between patients and mentors, which encourages patients to take an active role in their health.

The platform’s proprietary patient-sentiment reporting provides deeper insights and more relatable mentor connections, influencing patient decision-making.

PatientPartner co-founder and CEO George Kramb said: “These efforts are driving progress in bridging the gap between companies’ products and the patients who need them.

“This reflects a strong commitment to improving the patient relationship, which is one of the many factors that has led to our continued growth as a solution in the industry.”

The healthcare, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries are currently witnessing growing investment in direct-to-patient initiatives, as seen with Eli Lilly’s LillyDirect and Pfizer’s PfizerForAll platforms.

PfizerForAll, launched last month, is a new digital platform to provide access to healthcare and manage health and wellness for people in the US.

LionBird partner Ed Michael said: “LionBird is excited to support PatientPartner as they revolutionise patient engagement and adherence in the pharmaceutical industry. “Their innovative approach to patient mentoring aligns with our vision of backing startups that have the potential to significantly improve healthcare outcomes.”
