Lee Health, a healthcare provider in Southwest Florida, has unveiled its plans to implement artificial intelligence (AI) to support patient care, improve health outcomes, and increase operational efficiency.
The healthcare provider intends to use technology and innovation to empower patients, improve treatment results, and streamline the delivery of care.
The adoption of advanced AI will also improve patient’s experience in their wellness journey, from visiting their doctor’s office to receiving inpatient care.
By leveraging Abridge AI platform, Lee Health will allow physicians to concentrate on delivering personalised care with full attention to each patient.
The platform ensures comprehensive and timely clinical documentation while enhancing communication.
Supporting over 50 specialities and 14 languages, Abridge is integrated into the electronic health record system, facilitating seamless communication among care teams and further improving patient care.
Lee Health introduced the programme earlier this year and has expanded its use from office settings to pilot programmes in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Departments.
In addition, Lee Health has introduced GI Genius for colonoscopies to enhance the detection of colorectal abnormalities and enable earlier identification of colon cancer.
GI Genius uses AI to aid gastroenterologists in spotting and removing potentially cancerous growths, thus increasing early detection rates, and reducing the risk of colorectal cancer.
The technology will also help in detecting any potential polyps or lesions and promptly alert the medical team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Last year, the healthcare provider introduced AI-supported heart scans into its cardiac care services. The integration provided precise imaging technology for the early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular conditions.
The addition of Cleery heart scans allows Lee Health to offer proactive and personalised cardiac care, identifying existing issues with a patient’s cardiovascular health and predicting potential future concerns.
Lee Health chief digital health executive Bill Carracino said: “We continue to further our mission to provide exceptional care to our patients while supporting the efforts of our dedicated healthcare professionals.
“These innovative technologies represent a significant focus in our ongoing commitment to providing the highest standard of care for our patients every day with the most advanced opportunities to support health and wellness.”
